Marten Hoeksema was awarded the prestigious ERC Starting grant to start his own research group! With this grant Marten will study how cytokines, small secreted signaling molecules with immune-modulatory function, shape the phenotype of macrophages, thereby affecting chronic inflammatory diseases.
