On July 1, Rianne Schoon successfully defended her PhD thesis, Building Bridges: Molecular Regulation of Endothelial Junctions for the Vascular Barrier, at the University of Amsterdam.

Afterwards, Dr. Schoon invited the opposition committee to enjoy a scenic boat trip across Amsterdam cannals to see the Skinny Bridge up close.
